On Blogging

Just a little bit ago I stumbled on a great article about blogging (from the lovely blog the rigneys) and the motives behind it, with a quote I'd like to share.

"The thing is, every day is complicated, messy, and full of friction. And every day has glorious or cozy moments worth celebrating. I seldom bother to chronicle the friction and the mess because writing time is fleeting and precious—and childhood even more so. I’d rather capture the small joys that I might forget—or take for granted—if I don’t take time to set them down in words." Wiley.

At the moment, I am home all day for the first time in a long time. I've spent the last few weeks working 32 hours but am now laid off (something I 100% expected when I hired in at a seasonal job at the end of summer). I'm glad for the experience, and enjoyed the job and my coworkers. I've learned a lot, but am priviledged to be back to being a full-time homemaker. All this to say--life has been (will be) stressfull. Finances are tight, my hubby is a little overwhelmed with school, work situations have been stressfull, 75% of our clothing is needing to be laundered, I have a fridge with old food in it needing to be cleaned out, and dirty dishes to wash. This blog isn't about pretending to have a perfect and cute life...it's about appreciating the moments worth remembering...and taking a moment to savour them, enjoy them, record them. And mostly, the moments that I want to savour are happy ones, so mostly, happy moments will be what I blog about. But that doesn't mean that our lives aren't real with housework, finances, disagreements, etc. It's just that I want to take a moment to pause and notice blessings in our messy, everyday, life.
